Tyus Jones Is Mr. Minnesota Basketball

Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, has been selected as the 40th winner of the annual Mr. Minnesota Basketball player of the year.

Jones, the nation's top-ranked high school point guard who will play next year at Duke, scored a school-record 2,909 points and led the Eagles to a 120-27 record in his five years with the team, highlighted by last season's Class 4A state championship.

Jones, the two-time Gatorade Minnesota Player of the Year, is one of six finalists for the Wooden National Player of the Year award.

The other finalists for Mr. Minnesota Basketball were JP Macura of Lakeville North, Wheeler Baker of Osseo, Reid Travis of DeLaSalle and Brian Goodwin of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
