LQPV/DV Earns Top Five Finish

The Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd girls’ cross country team placed fifth Saturday at Class A Girls’ State Cross Country Meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Trinity School at River Ridge won the team title with 55 points.  Annandale (87) was second, followed by Fairmont (117) and Waseca (125).

Senior Emily Donnay of Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball Area was the medalist in a time of 14:27.5, while her sister, sophomore Anna Donnay placed third in 14:57.5.  Sophomore Madi Schandelmeier finished second in 14:49.0.

LQPV/DB was led by senior Alaysia Freetly, who finished 10th in a time of 15:11.7.  Freshman Jordyn Sterud (15:50.5) was 23rd, sophomore Sadie Thompson (15:54.5) placed 28th, eighth-grader Grace Hegland (15:58.7) finished 32nd and junior Kelly Kvaal (16:30.5) was 99th out of 171 runners.

Also competing for LQPV/DB was sophomore Sydney Batunek (107th/16:39.3) and senior Sydney Giese (143rd/17:16.6).

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls’ did not participate as a team, but did have two runners in the individual competition.  Sophomore Savannah Aanerud placed 35th with a time of 15:42.8 and seventh-grader Maddie Carrington finished 139th in 17:12.3.
