|HOL Girls Golf schedule opens at Frazee|
The Heart O’ Lakes girls golf season finally go underway Tuesday at Frazee Golf Course. Led by medalist Becca Huus and her 9-hole round of 44, the Perham girls finished in 3rd place overall with 216 team strokes. Frazee was 1-stroke behind in 4th place with a 217. The Hornets had a pair of golfers finish in the top-6, as Alexis Parsons finished 5th with a 50, winning a scorecard playoff over teammate Brittany Lormis, who finished 6th.
"At this point in the season I think all of the teams were just happy to get a meet in even though we haven't been able to practice much," Frazee coach Dave Conzemius said. "I thought our girls had a good night and we still have plenty of room for improvement. I was very happy for Alexis and Brittany to finish in the top six and earn a medal."
Pelican Rapids won the team title with a score of 209. Hawley/U-H was 2nd with a 213.
Weather permitting, the Perham girls will plat at Whitetail Run G.C. in the W-DC Invite on Thursday, May 1.
The HOL girls will play at Tipsinah Mounds G.C., hosted by West Central Area, on May 5.

|Jacket golfers finish 3rd at S-M Invite|
The Perham boys golf team competed in the Staples-Motley Invitational on Saturday, April 26 at The Vintage G.C. The host Cardinals cruised to the team title with a 321, putting 3 golfers in the top-5. S-M teammates Andrew Israelson and Dakota Waverek tied for medalist honors with rounds of 75.
Shattuck-St. Mary’s was 2nd place as a team with a 339, 1-stroke ahead of Perham and Albany, which tied for 3rd with team rounds of 340.
The Jackets were led by Blake Kunza, who finished tied for 5th with an 81. Nick Bahls finished in 7th place with an 83, followed by Eric Huus with an 85.
Perham’s home meet scheduled for Monday, April 28 has been canceled due to weather. The Jackets next competition will be Thursday, May 1 with a HOL Meet at Barnesville.

|HOL boys compete in soggy conditions in Pelican Rapids|
In the 1st meet of the HOL season, the Hawley boys won with a commanding margin of victory. They also won the 2nd meet, but the gap between them and Perham was much closer. On Thursday in Pelican Rapids, Perham closed the gap even further, but the Nuggets still came out on top.
Hawley finished with a 9-hole score of 154 at Birchwood G.C. in very soggy conditions. Perham was just 3-strokes behind with a 157. Frazee tied with Breckenridge for 3rd place with 173's.
“We’re closing the gap on Hawley,” Perham head coach Mike Kunza said. “(We’ll) get them in Perham).”
The Yellowjackets will be hosting the HOL at Perham Lakeside G.C. on Monday afternoon. Tee-time is 2 p.m.
Hawley’s Cody Cook took medalist honors with a 33. Blake Kunza was the runner-up, shooting a 36. Eric Huus finished 4th overall for Perham with a 38. Frazee's top golfer was Calvin Streeper, who finished with a 41.
Before hosting at home on Monday, Perham will compete in the Staples-Motley Invitational on Saturday, April 26.

|Girls golf season opens at Wildflower G.C.|
After several cancelations, the girls golf season finally started on Tuesday with the Pelican Rapids Invitational at Wildflower G.C. The 2-time defending State Champion Detroit Lakes Lakers easily won the team title with a 307. Staples-Motley was a distant 2nd with a 350. Perham finished in 6th place (418) with Frazee finishing 9th (433).
“The weather was perfect for the first meet of the season and the girls had a good day overall,” Hornet head coach Dave Conzemius said. “We can cut some strokes off their scores with improvement with chipping and putting which will come.”
No surprise, the Lady Lakers had 4 golfers finish in the top-5, led by medalist Kate Smith, who shot a 75.
Perham’s top golfer was Becca Huus, who shot an 86 (41-45). Frazee was led by Maddisan Parsons, who shot a 99 (47-52).
The HOL Conference season will tee-off on Thursday, April 24 at Hawley G.C.

|Perham boys close gap with Hawley in HOL at WCA|
The Perham boys cut a 23-stroke win by Hawley in the HOL opener on Monday in half on Tuesday at Tipsinah Mounds. Perham shaved 7 strokes off their collective score from Monday to Tuesday, as they finished with a 327 in the HOL at WCA.
Hawley won the team title with a 315 at Tipsinah Mounds, putting 4 golfers in the top-6. Cody Cook and Willy Tickel tied for medalist honors with rounds of 76.
Blake Kunza led the Jackets with a 3rd place finish, shooting a 77. Nick Bahls won a scorecard playoff to take 5th with an 82.
The HOL boys will play at Birchwood G.C. in Pelican Rapids on April 24.

|Hawley boys win HOL golf opener|
The HOL Boys Golf season started Monday with a conference meet at Hawley G.C. The host Nuggets had 4 golfers in the top-6 as they shot a 311 to take top honors. Perham was 2nd with a 334, followed in 3rd by Breckenridge with 364.
Hawley’s Willy Tickel was the top individual with a 73. Eric Huus was Perham’s low scorer, finishing 3rd with an 80.
The boys HOL season continues Tuesday at Tipsinah Mounds hosted by WCA.
